Okay, so now everyone's slapping "AI" on everything, huh? Like that suddenly makes it innovative. Give me a break. These "Frontier Firms" they keep yapping about? More like layoff factories with a fresh coat of buzzword paint.
HP's gonna cut 5,000 jobs because of "AI integration." ABN Amro? Layoffs galore, all thanks to "embracing AI." Challenger, Gray & Christmas says AI was cited in a FIFTH of layoff announcements by American companies in October. See a pattern here? I do. It's called "corporate greed masked as progress."
"AI Partnership" or Corporate Raider?
The "AI Will Save Us" Lie
Microsoft, of course, is leading the charge with this "Frontier Firm" BS. It's all about transforming your business into a "secure, AI-first organization." Secure for whom? Certainly not the employees who are about to get the boot.
The agentic future: How we’re becoming an AI-first frontier firm at Microsoft
They're claiming productivity increases of 30% to 63%. Right. And I'm the Queen of England. Let's be real. That "productivity increase" just means fewer people doing the same amount of work, while the C-suite rakes in the profits.
Catherine Doyle, General Manager of Microsoft Ireland, says a "frontier firm" is where "we truly engage with AI as a partnership for business growth and innovation." Partnership? More like a hostile takeover where AI is the corporate raider and the employees are the ones getting stripped of their assets.
And this line from Kerry Group CEO Edmond Scanlon: "Can you make our jobs a little bit easier?" Translated: "How can we use AI to eliminate as many jobs as possible and squeeze more work out of the remaining drones?"
An Post CEO David McRedmond admitted he was "terrified" and "had to do something." Yeah, terrified of falling behind the curve of mass unemployment.
AI-Addicted Kids: The Next Generation of Useless Automatons?
The Kids Aren't Alright Either
It's not just adults getting screwed over, either. Apparently, AI is now infiltrating education. A study on Italian high school students found that "Problematic Internet Use (PIU)" is linked to both "habitual AI use" and "behavioural intention" to use AI. So, basically, kids who are already addicted to the internet are now getting hooked on AI too. Great.
They're trying to make it sound all academic, talking about the "Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2)." Give me strength. It's a bunch of jargon to justify turning kids into AI-dependent zombies.
AI adoption among adolescents in education: extending the UTAUT2 with psychological and contextual factors
And the "risks" they acknowledge? "Superficial learning habits," "hindering the development of fundamental skills," "risks to the development of important cognitive skills"... Sounds like a recipe for a generation of useless automatons.
Oh, and apparently, students with "non-Italian backgrounds" show higher AI usage habits. Is that supposed to be a good thing? Sounds like they're just trying to exploit vulnerable populations with this garbage.
Then again, maybe I'm the crazy one here. Maybe AI really *is* the future, and I'm just a grumpy old man yelling at the clouds. But I doubt it.
Also, why are these studies always "correlational"? Show me some causation offcourse!
Microsoft's "Agentic Future": Dystopia or Just Plain BS?
The Microsoft Hype Machine
Microsoft's "agentic future" sounds like something out of a dystopian sci-fi movie. "Human-led, agent-operated"... Yeah, operated by robots while the humans are left twiddling their thumbs, wondering how they're going to pay the rent.
They surveyed leaders at "Frontier Firms" and found that they're "more likely to say their company is thriving." Of course they are! They're the ones profiting from all this mess.
"AI transformation is about unlocking human potential, not replacing it," they claim. That's rich. It's ALWAYS about replacing humans with cheaper, more controllable alternatives.
And this "Copilot Champs Community"? Sounds like a bunch of Kool-Aid drinkers who have bought into the corporate propaganda. A bunch of yes men and women.
So, What's the Real Story?
It's simple: AI is being used as an excuse to cut jobs, exploit workers, and turn everyone into mindless consumers. The "Frontier Firm" is just a fancy term for a company that values profit over people. Wake up, sheeple.
